MSQ’s Lending Quilt
This month, we’ve been sharing lots of fun photos of the process of making our Lending sample over on our Instagram feed. In this post, we’re going to dig into all the details of our sample quilt!
Rachelle’s featured quilt pattern includes an amazing seven sizes, from crib through king, offering a huge range of options for making for any recipient. For our version, we made the 72” square large throw.
Choosing the fabrics for the sample was a group effort, the result of discussions that led us to a pretty standard red, white, and blue scheme in a lovely combination of solids. The scheme is broadened a bit with two blue shades and the addition of a coordinating gray. We used the following solids: Moda Bella solids in Country Red, Off-White, Blue, and Steel and a Riley Blake Confetti Cotton in Riley Navy. The navy also made an appearance in the binding. The quilt top was beautifully pieced by our webmaster, Christine.
Lilo quilted our sample using a panto called White Space designed by Jess Zeigler of the Longarm League. It creates the most amazing texture and adds so much delightful movement to a quilt made of a lot of straight lines.
The backing is an older fabric called Twists and Turns in Red from the Bramble collection by Gingiber. It’s a great simple print that adds a nice pop of color but doesn’t distract from the design on the quilt top.
For the binding, Christine used the same Riley Blake Confetti Cotton in Riley Navy to add the perfect frame against the white background. It’s such a lovely segue from the border to the binding to the backing.
If you’re inspired to make your own version, head on over to Rachelle’s shop to purchase your own copy of the Lending pattern by April 30. And don’t forget Rachelle is donating 75% of the proceeds from the pattern through the end of the month to Disabled American Vets (DAV), so pick up a copy of the pattern now to stretch your impact for some very worthy veterans. You can check out this post for lots more about Rachelle’s collaboration with MSQ. Happy quilting!
